Doba Mera Medvedeva

Miriam (Doba-Mera) Medvedeva was born November 15, 1892, in Khotimsk, located in modern-day Belarus. She lived through World War I, the Russian Revolution, and World War II. She died on February 25, 1976.

Alice Nakhimovsky is distinguished professor of Jewish studies and professor of Russian and Eurasian studies at Colgate University. She is the author of Dear Mendl, Dear Reyzl: Yiddish Letter Manuals from Russia and America (Indiana University Press), which won a National Jewish Book Award.

Michael Beizer is a historian specializing in the history of Russian and Soviet Jewry; he lectures at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His latest book is Relief in Time of Need: Russian Jewry and the Joint, 1914–24 (Slavica Publishers).
