Roslyn Weiss

Roslyn Weiss is professor emerita of philosophy at Lehigh University and was a 2021 Guggenheim Fellow. She wrote four books on Plato and translated Light of the Lord (Or Hashem) by Hasdai Crescas, which was reissued in a revised paperback edition by Oxford University Press in 2020.

In Hasdai Crescas’s brilliant critique of Maimonides, he replaced the self-intellecting intellect that was Aristotle’s God with the God of Israel, whose essential nature, he argued, was one of unbounded and unfailing love.
